The revision to ASTM D93-25 introduces a fundamental change to the Pensky-Martens closed-cup flash-point test: the mandatory annual verification of the apparatus using a Certified Reference Material (CRM). The standard also incorporates the formal use of Secondary Working Standards (SWS) for routine checks, sets out new requirements for equipment calibration and validation, and strengthens metrological traceability through updated references to ISO standards for reference materials. These improvements establish a more robust framework that is aligned with ISO 17025 audits.
