There are three decisions that R&D makes when establishing the quality control test method.
The first is to define the viscosity range of the manufactured material. The second is to define the equipment by range. For most pharmaceutical products, two basic ranges are used; “LV” applies to low viscosity materials, while “RV” is selected for “normal” or medium viscosity products. Once the torque range has been decided, the choice of viscometer model is based on the operating characteristics required for the measurement. The type of spindle to be used and the rotation speed must be defined. And the third and last need for quality control is to know the acceptable limits for viscosity measurement to approve the final product.
